This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management. Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination. Potential employment options are as: • Family Support Officer • Welfare Worker • Community Services Worker • Case Worker or Manager • Early Intervention Worker • Pastoral Care Counsellor Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the is Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management course.

CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services is ideal for students who are: • Seeking to pursue a career in providing community services. • Seeking to enter a new industry sector. • Seeking a pathway to higher-level qualifications Characteristics of the target group are as follows: International students from various countries who are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in ageing support to further their career prospects or study pathways. Students will usually be new entrants. However, credit and/or RPL can be provided for those with existing skills and knowledge allowing such students to complete the course in a shorter timeframe. Students may be onshore students currently based in Australia or offshore students applying from overseas. Most students speak English as a second language and must satisfy English language proficiency to successfully enrol into the course. Potential students typically are: - >> No age range but typically most students will be from a younger age range (18 -35) >> From varied cultural backgrounds >> Experience in the field of organisational learning >> Full access to an Australian business workplace >> Usually educated to at least year 12 or equivalent >> Has IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent in line with regulations
Course Delivery and Duration
This program is delivered in the classroom Face-to-face combined with in-class experiential activities and through structured self-study, as well as in the workplace. This qualification will be delivered over 104 weeks, including 88 weeks of the study period and 16 weeks of holiday To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 200 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course in the Training Package. Eureka Institute of Management has the following entry requirements: International students must: • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent. • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs taking into account existing skills, knowledge and the experience. • Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following: >> Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or >> Successful completion of an English Placement Test * Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5. • Unique Student Identifier (USI)- every student must have a verified USI without which qualification will not be issued. Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning). The granting of course credit may affect course fees as well as the duration of the course.
